Student Run Publication:
Practice Editorial-Style Writing and Gain Leadership Skills

Part-time for 8-12 weeks
High School and College Students Welcome

This program is an opportunity to write and publish editorial (op-ed) pieces that put forth arguments about important social issues you feel passionate about. 

Work Environment

Students will work independently, in a self-paced environment, while also collaborating with peers on topic selection and editing.  


  • Students will lead the writing team of the student-run publication Students 4SC
  • At the same time, students will complete a self-paced course in order to strengthen their writing skills.  
  • Bi-weekly meetings with staff will give students a chance to check in, ask questions, and share ideas. 
  • Students will be eligible to apply to stay on as part of the writing team after completing the summer. 

This program is designed to be completed concurrently with other responsibilities. You should expect to dedicate a total of approximately 40 hours over the course of 8 weeks.  


  • Language: English 
  • Age: 10th grade and up 
  • Location: Anywhere! 
  • Materials: Have a computer/tablet with access to reliable Internet
  • Commitment: The program is designed to be completed concurrently with summer school, employment, and/or other personal and family responsibilities.

  • Application deadline: June 30th
